Report

Final: Colaiste Eanna 61 (Niall Phelan 26, William Lynch 14, C Cassidy 12) North Monastery 60 (David Brosnan 20, S McCarthy 9, Ronan O’Sullivan 9)

Colaiste Eanna won the Under 18 A Schoolboys All Ireland League title with a one poimt victory over North Monastery. Former U15 International William Lynch kept a cool head as he scored a free throw with 18 seconds left to give the Ballyroan, Dublin side a 61-60 victory.

The chance had seemed to slip for the Dubliners as they trailed by 16 points midway through the second half but a spirited comeback, led by Under 18 International Niall Phelan, saw them take the lead with under a minute left thanks to a 3-pointer from point-guard Niall Clarke.

North Mon’s International, David Brosnan, levelled the game with 38 seconds left, but when the Cork side regained possession they twice failed to take their chance to win the game.

It was a particularly sweet victory for another Ireland U18 International, Colum Cunningham, who was celebrating his 16th Birthday
